Max-cushion platform – The H1 offers a stack height of 35 mm with a 6 mm drop, giving it enough midsole underfoot for comfort without feeling overly steep.
CircleCELL midsole – CircleCELL is a high performance midsole material made of 100% renewable feedstock, including recycled organic waste. Renewal feedstocks are type of raw material that is replenished during a typical human lifespan unlike fossil fuels. This means the CircleCELL midsole one the most environmenally friendly midsole on the market. When combined with Mount to Coast\'s state-of-the-art supercritical foaming, CircleCELL offers PEBA-level energy return with almost double PEBA\'s running lifespan
Hybrid / all-terrain geometry – The “H” in H1 stands for Hybrid. It’s meant to bridge more types of terrain compared to pure road or pure trail shoes. The heel-to-toe drop and stack make it great for moderate trails and road comfort.
VersaGrip is Mount to Coast proprietary outsole technology engineered to deliver excellent traction, grip and durability across all terrains. Designed for your longest journeys, it guarantees optimal performance on every surface you encounter.
Weight – Around 255 g (~9.0 oz) for men’s size US 9 creating a reasonably light all-terrain shoe with high stack height.
Ride – Moderately soft due to the CircleCELL foam, but with enough structure and drop to handle mixed terrain. It feels more cushioned than performance-light racing shoes, but more versatile than heavy trail runners.
Versatility – Because of its hybrid category, this shoe seems aimed at runners who want one pair that can handle roads, smoother trails, and maybe something in between rather than very technical terrain.
Ideal for runners in and around Salida, Colorado who want a comfortable, cushioned shoe that can handle mixed surfaces—road + less technical trails—without needing two separate shoes. Good for long runs, recovery days, or if your runs vary in terrain and you want something versatile. If you prioritize aggressive trail grip or ultra-light performance, there might be better specialized choices.
The Men’s Mount to Coast H1 appears to be a strong contender in the “hybrid trail/road” space: good cushion, moderate drop, new eco-minded foam, and a weight that doesn’t feel overly burdensome. It won’t replace pure trail shoes for rugged terrain, but for someone wanting comfort + flexibility it is great all-terrain option.
