Detailed information on Dumortierite Gold Vermeil Bracelet I (8mm)

The stone of the unshakable mind. It was named for the explorer who sought the world’s rarest minerals.

Product Highlights:

  • The Stone: Millions of years of history. Dumortierite is an aluminum borosilicate mineral, rare for its ability to produce such a deep, fibrous blue color naturally. It forms in aluminum-rich metamorphic rocks, where its needle-like crystal structure creates a dense, durable stone that is much harder than most other blue gems. These 8mm beads feature a mottled denim blue, ranging from navy to indigo, with a matte-to-polished finish that reveals the stone\'s inner depth. Set with a vermeil gold logo cube at the center.

  • History: Unlike many ancient stones, Dumortierite was formally identified in 1881 by the French paleontologist Eugène Dumortier, who discovered it in the Alps of France. However, it had been used for centuries in craft. In the American Southwest, indigenous people used it to create jewelry and tools, valuing it for its toughness and the way its color mirrored the desert twilight. Because it is heat-resistant and maintains its color under extreme conditions, it has been used industrially in the production of high-grade porcelain for spark plugs and laboratory equipment. It is a stone built to endure.

  • The Belief: In modern crystal practice, Dumortierite is a third eye and throat chakra stone, specifically associated with mental discipline, patience, and brain power. It is often called the Student’s Stone or the Stone of Order, believed to help the wearer organize their thoughts and stay calm during chaotic projects. In French lapidary tradition, it was carried to enhance memory and focus. For over a century, it has been worn by those who need to keep their composure while solving complex problems.

  • Vermeil Gold: The gold elements are crafted from heavy vermeil. This is a solid sterling silver base coated in 3.5 microns of pure 24kt gold, making it about seven times thicker than standard gold plating. Because we use pure 24kt gold over silver instead of a thin layer over brass, the color is richer and highly durable. If it wears over time, it reveals solid silver beneath, developing character rather than looking cheap. Vermeil has been the standard for premium jewelry since 18th century France.
