This is a solid sterling silver base coated in 3.5 microns of pure 24kt gold, making it about seven times thicker than standard gold plating. Because we use pure 24kt gold over silver instead of a thin layer over brass, the color is richer and highly durable. If it wears over time, it reveals solid silver beneath, developing character rather than looking cheap. Vermeil has been the standard for premium jewelry since 18th century France.
