Striking large koinobori (carp streamer) made from traditional Japanese washi paper.Measuring approximately 257 cm × 90 cm, this is an impressive, large-scale example.

Historically, many koinobori were crafted from hand-painted washi paper.Today, most are made from synthetic materials such as nylon or polyester.

Because paper is fragile and easily damaged — particularly in larger sizes — surviving large washi examples are increasingly uncommon.

The bold red colour and aged surface give this piece a strong presence and authentic character. It would make a powerful statement in a gallery space, traditional interior, or curated collection of Japanese folk art.
