The First Chair by Michele De Lucchi, designed in 1983 for Memphis Milano, marks an early high point of postmodernism. A continuous, matte silver tubular frame defines the graphic structure of the backrest. Two black spheres add precise accents. The round backrest in vibrant blue and the glossy black seat create a striking contrast. Slender cylindrical legs support the sculptural composition with a light touch. The chair is in very good condition, with typical signs of age. Fine scratches on the seat are only visible in raking light. Three scratches on the backrest have been professionally repaired.
