This incense set expresses the elegant world of Tamakazura through a vibrant violet-based fragrance, paired with three additional scents for her suitors—Higekuro no Taishō, Kashiwagi, and Hotaru no Miya—each carrying a sense of traditional refinement and dignity.
Inspired by Chapter 22, “Tamakazura,” from The Tale of Genji, the collection reflects Tamakazura’s journey.
Once lost in childhood as the daughter of Yūgao, she overcomes many hardships and finally arrives in the capital, where she is welcomed into Rokujo-in under Genji’s protection.
The fragrances together evoke destiny (enishi), grace, and the quiet tensions of courtly romance.
