Originally produced in the late 1970s in a dirty blond color, a few years later the frames started being manufactured in black & brown & crystal. The unconventional generous size of the frame quickly made the glasses iconic pieces of eyewear, being sported by actors or musicians such as Michael Caine, and Harry Carey or, more recently, to portray colourful film characters from the 1970s, such as Robert de Niro as Sam Ace Rothstein in movie Casino and Elliott Goulds Reuben Tishkoff in movie Oceans Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen.
