Finding the right TOG rating and dressing your baby appropriately for the temperature can be confusing. Every baby feels hot and cold differently, ambient temperatures fluctuate, and layering impacts thermal effectiveness. It\'s not a one-size-fits-all approach, but understanding these factors can help.

At Love to Dream we use the industry-recognised measurement system, called TOG. TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and helps simplify the process of choosing the right garment/s for your baby. Put simply: The lower the TOG rating, the lighter the fabric. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric.

• Products with a 0.2 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 24-27°C.


• Products with a 1.0 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 20-24°C.


• Products with a 1.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 18-22°C.


• Products with a 2.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures between 16-20°C.


• Products with a 3.5 TOG Rating are ideal for Room Temperatures below 16°C.

The table below provides with guidelines around how to dress your baby/toddler based on the room temperature. It is only a guide. All babies are different. The number of clothing layers may vary according to a baby’s health, their physiology, and the room

temperature in the room. The caregiver must determine what is suitable. We recommend that carers always monitor the temperature of the room & the child’s comfort. It is important to check your baby regularly to ensure that they are comfortable and that they do not overheat.
