What’s Cloisonne ?

Cloisonné is an ancient enameling technique with origins in the Middle East, which was later perfected in China during the Yuan and Ming dynasties. Artisans use fine metal wires to create “cloisons” (French for “compartments”) that are filled with powdered glass enamel. Each bead is fired in a kiln and polished by hand — a process that demands time, skill, and heart.
